In Matthew 5, Jesus calls us the salt of the earth and the light of the world, reminding us that our lives are meant to preserve, illuminate, and point others to Him. This season on Savory Salt, we'll walk through the Old Testament, one verse and one thought each day. Perhaps these moments will add greater savor and brighter light to our lives as we seek to truly live as Savory Salt.

Hello, my friends, it's a new day with new opportunities. Choose ye this day whom you will serve. My friends, how many times have you seen examples of Jesus Christ in your study of the Old Testament this time?

If not, if you're having a hard time seeing it, if perhaps it's hard to relate these stories to Jesus Christ, I hope that today is clear and clear. The Bible is clear and obvious. The example that we see of our Savior, Jesus Christ, here.

We are going to look at 1 Samuel 2, our third verse inside this chapter, because of the three different types of appearances that we have set up and seen in this chapter. We saw Hannah, we saw the sons of Eli, and now we get to see Samuel. Samuel is such a cool example here of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Let's take a look at 1 Samuel 2, verse 26 and see if you see the parallel like I did in this verse. And the child Samuel grew on and was in favor both with the Lord and also with men. My friends, did you hear anything inside of there that sounded familiar? in stature and ultimately in favor with God and man.

My friends, I love this phrase here: "Samuel grew on." I think it's a call for each one of us to grow on. What a cool phrase. Grow on in our own lives.

How can we increase in our wisdom and our stature? How can we find favor both with God and also with men? In today's world, we seem to be driving wedges in between all of our relationships.

We seem to be increasing in frustration and anger. And here we have an example of the child Samuel and an example of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ growing in favor with God and in favor with men as well. I hope that you and I could take a page out of that chapter.

Consider what it means to grow on in our own lives. I know that I run into some friends from the past, right? I run into people in my life from the past.

And sometimes there's always a phrase—I mentioned this before—but there's always a phrase that I worry about hearing. And that phrase is, "Oh man, Allen, after talking to you, you haven't changed a bit!" That phrase terrifies me. I don't want to be exactly the same as I used to be.

I want to grow. I want to be different. I want to develop.

I want to lean on my Heavenly Father's guidance and direction to make me a new person. Thank you for watching. We will be here tomorrow, and we hope you are too.
