In Matthew 5, Jesus calls us the salt of the earth and the light of the world, reminding us that our lives are meant to preserve, illuminate, and point others to him. This season on Savory Salt, we'll walk through the Old Testament, one verse and one thought each day. Perhaps these moments will add greater savor and brighter light to our lives as we seek to truly live as Savory Salt.

Hello, my friends. It is a new day with new opportunities. Choose ye this day whom you will serve.

Let's sing and shout it from the rooftops. Welcome to episode 1000 from Savory Salt. We have done 1000 consecutive days of reading a scripture verse and sharing a few thoughts.

Thank you, whether you've come in for Day one, whether you've been here for three seasons. I can say that my life has been changed for the better, spending more time studying about our Savior Jesus Christ. And I'm grateful for you out there that have given me the support and continue to cheer me on as this has gone across 87 nations over those last thousand.

A little more Savory Salt, a little bit brighter lights in the world that we can shine the light of Jesus Christ with others. So, thank you for being here. Long intro there as we get into our verse for today.

We're going to go from Isaiah 29 here. For Latter-day Saints, Isaiah 29 is a very important chapter, as we believe we see a fulfillment of some of the prophecy here. I added an additional link in the description box inside of the podcast episode where you can go and read from "Joseph Smith—History," his reflection on Isaiah 29:11 and 12 and what happened with the translation of the Book of Mormon there.

But we're going to fast forward just a little further beyond that to one that's also very well known amongst Latter-day Saint communities around the world. The Bible is a book of the world. It's one that if you have experienced the joy inside of the growth of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, you are a witness to this as well.

Our verse for today is Isaiah 29, verse 14. Sorry, I'm already emotional. Okay, Isaiah 29, verse 14: "Therefore, behold, I will proceed to do a marvelous work among this people, even a marvelous work and a wonder, for the wisdom of their wise men shall perish, and the understanding of their prudent men shall be hid." My friends, my family, my brothers, my sisters, I can testify that I have witnessed a marvelous work and a wonder with the growth of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

I've been a part of it my entire life, and I understand the framing that that is for me. But I also understand and will not deny the experiences that I've had, whether it be in Mongolia on my mission, whether it be in informal mission experiences as I've traveled throughout the world, being able to train and to coach and to help others. The Lord is truly rolling out a marvelous work and a wonder.

Miracles happen daily in our lives as we seek to follow Jesus Christ. I can testify to the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon. I know it is a power, and I know and have shared before the promises of the Book of Mormon from our mission experiences that we've had.

I know that we have a loving Heavenly Father who is real. I know that it's hard to explain sometimes. I know that there's questions on the fringe sides of the Church.

The reason it does is because I cannot deny the experiences that I had that show me that this truly is a marvelous work and a wonder unfolding. The Bible says, for what the Atonement of Jesus Christ can do for you in your life. Turn to him, and your life will be changed.

And I can testify to that today as we wrap up this episode. Thank you again for the support and the love. May we continue to grow together in Savory Salt.

That is all for today, my friends. You and I have come here for such a time as this. Step forward in faith with this marvelous work and a wonder, and let's be Savory Salt. We will be here tomorrow, and we hope you are too.
